Big Man & The True Believers

Big Man was one of Pete’s role models and guitar teacher. Pete talks about what it was like playing Blues on Saturday night and Gospel on Sunday mornings. From age 15 to 20 Pete was playing in the clubs around his house and playing at the Zion Baptist Church. At this time in his life Pete had to walk everywhere because he didn’t have a car. So when his friends were driving to places getting better gigs Pete was hanging out in his neighborhood, playing at Redmond’s Show Lounge at Damen & Roosevelt, and going to the Zion Baptist Church.
